Looking for a job that builds positive change in the world? Help Idaho National Laboratory realize its carbon-free future. The lab's new Net Zero Director is looking for a Net Zero Communications Liaison to share progress toward INL's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2031.
Our team works a hybrid 9x80 schedule located at our WCB facility with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
  • The Communications Liaison consults on standard processes for sharing the organization's successes, helping its authorities build and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Stay up to date on organization developments and work to anticipate communication needs.
  • Works with requestors to understand target audiences, choose effective communication channels, and refine messages appropriately.
  • Creates fact sheets, marketing material, news releases, website content, newsletters, social media, videos, talking points, FAQs.
  • Also guides presentations and event promotion; coordinate with INL's Communications department; and facilitate news media interactions.
  • As an employee based in one organization and working for another, the liaison will maintain regular contact with both home org and work org to understand priorities and the availability of specialized staff.
Minimum Requirements:
PR03: Bachelor's degree in technical discipline with emphasis in communications plus 5 years of related experience OR advanced degree and 3 years related experience.
PR04: Bachelor's degree in technical discipline with emphasis in communications plus 8 years of related experience OR advanced degree and 6 years of related experience.
Prefer completed degree program in technical discipline with emphasis in communications.
Other desired degree programs include communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a field related to technical communications.
Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
  • Experience with science or engineering public communication.
  • Experience in public involvement in technical or scientific issues, as well as writing and producing materials for the general public.
  • Requires ability to understand technical principles and communicate technical topics in simple terms.
  • Able to negotiate with researchers to achieve mutually agreeable communications materials.
  • Must demonstrate excellent writing skills, familiarity with AP Style, and excellent oral, digital, social media and visual communications skills.
Other skill areas:
  • Able to manage several projects at once, work independently under general direction, and demonstrate good judgement on diverse problems.
  • Must understand news judgment and be able to prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must have good relationship management and organizational skills to effectively manage collaboration with colleagues.
