Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Quality Control group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a NDE Quality Inspector! This team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our MFC facility with every Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide quality inspection support at INL to ensure compliance with DOE, Company, and customer specific requirements applicable to Quality Inspection and Non-Destructive Examination.
  • Perform inspections on nuclear facility, maintenance, fabrication, and construction projects.
  • Act as quality program inspector technical authority representative both in the field and at suppliers facilities.
  • Provide assistance to Quality Engineers during design reviews and inspection planning.
  • Provide first-line inspection and testing in support of nuclear maintenance, and similar in-house activities.
  • Provide Inspector Certification activities in support of the INL Inspector Certification Program.
  • Perform technical reviews to maintain company level inspection procedures are accurate and correct.
  • Perform in process surveillance of complex wide program work to verify compliance with company quality program procedures.
  • Maintain required training as per Individual Training Plan (ITP)
  • Provide technical expertise in NDE methods to support work activities requiring a qualified inspector.
  • Verify and/or witness operations and perform inspections and surveillances as called out in plans, procedures, or work control documents. Ensure documentations of such activities is complete and accurate and all requirements are met.
  • Provide support to the control of items including cleaning and inspection operations. This includes drawing and specification reviews to ensure inspectable attributes of items.
  • Provide support in various administrative functions such as non-conformance reporting, tracking, trending, assessments and records management.
  • Provide mentorship to peers and program, project, facility management in providing innovative, functioning methods for meeting quality requirements. Provide training to peers and work organizations in quality technical aspects of the INL Quality program.
  • Maintain proficiency and required training and qualifications for related QAI functions and participate in professional development activities.
  • Become familiar with and comply with ESH&Q program requirements. Be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures. Support the Employee Safety Team and Behavioral Based Safety programs. Attend monthly safety meetings as directed.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 4: High School Diploma and 6 years related quality inspection experience with at least 2 years of experience working as a certified Eddy Current Level II.
  • Level 5: High School Diploma and 6+ years related quality inspection experience with at least 4 years of experience working as a certified Eddy Current Level II.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Radiation Worker II qualification (must be able to obtain and maintain within first 6 months of assignment)
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain Technician qualification for Nuclear Facilities
Preferred Requirements:
  • Welding, Visual, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Radiographic, and/or Ultrasonic NDE inspection experience commensurate to SNT-TC-1A Level I/II/III certifications or equivalent.
  • Must be able to acquire a complete understanding and knowledge of quality management concepts and practices; be thoroughly familiar with quality assurance codes, standards, and regulations as they apply to various types of facility operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Salary Grade 180 ($62,640 - $100,224) / Salary Grade 190 ($70,680 - $116,616)
