Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Nuclear Material Acquisition group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Material Coordinator.
Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Material Acquisition Coordinator supporting the Nuclear Material Acquisition Department within the MFC Engineering Division. A Material Acquisition Coordinator is responsible for accurately communicating (through a material or service request) the identification and technical specification of Bill of Materials (BOM), procurements and services as directed by technical personnel. Material Coordinators are directly responsible for Kitting and Staging of materials required in support of Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) programs and projects in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures.
Key functions of the role:
  • Able to properly identify nuclear procurements and associated procurement processes to ensure requirements are met
  • Function as the single point of contact for assigned BOMs, Material Requests, and Service Contracts. By providing direct support for procurement strategies, and staging aspects of the Material Coordinator process. Support the tracking and closeout of materials and service contracts associated with their assigned work scope
  • Must be familiar with technical specifications, codes, standards, and QA/QC methodology. Must be able to apply broad technical background and ability to select and apply engineering techniques to order correct requested material/services in support of the work order planning process and complex research objectives
  • Reports progress appropriately to project and line managers. (Familiarity with asset management software preferred, eg Asset Suite, Maximo, etc)
  • Possesses a variety of highly developed skills, including demonstrated intermediate to advanced computer software capabilities. Familiarity with PowerBI, Excel, Pivot Tables, Barcode Tracking, etc.
  • Recognized source of administrative knowledge for questions, issues, etc., in operational areas supported. Ability to find information, identify process breakdowns, see big picture, and problem solve
  • Trains guides, and mentors' technical staff outside of the Material Coordination Group (MCG). Teaches problem solving skills, order tracking/status methodologies and functional review route groups/approvals. Have good customer service etiquette and helpful disposition
  • Good interpersonal skills to problem solve and work with outside groups to support MFC facility needs. Completing assignments requires independence
  • Ability to accurately issue a material list in support of work orders to meet MFC Programmatic schedules
  • Resolve complex problems within the material requisitioning and acquisitions area
  • Provides alternative approaches to fulfill customer needs
  • Demonstrate innovation in addressing routine as well as non-routine assignments
  • Familiarity with Bills of Material, Technical Drawings, configuration management methodology, specifications, and plant maintenance activities. Perform data input, development, and maintenance of the Asset Suite Master Materials Catalog (MMC) and associated BOM /Material Equipment Listings (MEL)
  • Monitor and report to a variety of customers the status of new and existing purchase requisitions associated with both work-orders and stand-alone requests
  • Establish a work culture consistent with the INL mission, vision, and values. Promotes ethics; ownership and pride in conduct of all work Lead by Example.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree, or High School and 6 years experience in a technical role at a plant manufacturing environment
Preferred Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning tool, such as Asset Suite, Maximo or other work management system
  • Microsoft Office (PowerBI, Excel, word)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Bill Of Materials
  • Fabrication/ machining background
  • Understanding of codes and standards (ASTM, ASME)
  • Nuclear Experience
  • Purchasing experience
  • Warehouse experience
Job Information:
  • Salary Grade 160 ($48,192 - $77,100)/170 ($54,192 - $86,760)
