Job Brief

Manage a staff of analysts, accountants and technicians responsible for SRP's joint participation project accounting. Proficient and experience in (GAAP) and (FERC) requirements, interpretation, and application as it relates to utility industry participation project accounting. Excellent broad-range communication skills are required for this position. Ability to be flexible and work on multiple tasks at the same time is also needed for this position. Additionally, this position requires communication and negotiation skills w/external customers, (which includes project audit committee members).

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and leading personnel by fostering a culture that encourages innovation, supports empowerment and decision-making and rewards individual and team efforts that resulting proactive, customer-focused staff.
  • Manages billing of joint ownership projects' construction, maintenance and operating costs to other utilities and government agencies where SRP is project manager.
  • Reviews participation agreements for accounting and financial implication and recommends preferred procedures. Oversees contract compliance for joint participant project accounting.
  • Manages development of accounting system, procedures and manuals to meet construction, maintenance and operating needs of jointly owned projects including reviewing and approving numerous participation project invoices and check requests.
  • Prepares cost estimates and budget comparisons for jointly owned projects.
  • Participates in audit committee meetings for participation projects and negotiates audit settlements.
  • Develops contract-loading rates for participation projects managed by SRP.
  • Prepares audit schedules, budgets and corporate modeling input.
  • Some travel may be required to attend joint participation project audit committee meetings and other related meetings.


Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years cumulative and progressive exempt level professional experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide accurate, timely and concrete analysis and recommendations to management.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.


Additional Information

CPA or CIA certification preferred

Confidentiality- Manager has access to various financial, budget and personnel info that is not readily available to others.
Travel- Manager is required to travel to various utility companies to attend joint participation project audit committee meetings and other related meetings.
Negotiating skills- Manager needs good negotiating skills in regards to negotiating participation project audit settlements and in assisting with the negotiations of new or revised participation project agreements.
Business Skills- MGR must be able to analyze various business scenarios, contract rev, proposal rev which require understanding of bus practices.
