Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License. Ability to produce and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Current certification from International Society of Arboriculture
- Licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture for pesticide application or ability to acquire license within 180 days of employment

Position Summary:
The Contract Inspections Distribution Vegetation Management (VM) team consists of 8 Field Staff employees managing 6 Contractors (50-65 crews) performing work for the AE Vegetation Management Program. The Line Clearance Coordinator ( LCC ) will assist with managing additional requested contractors and FY21 VM Distribution contracts approved for the AE Vegetation Management Program. The LCC will assist with work management, contractor invoicing, auditing, and quality assurance with the Distribution & Transmission contracts as needed. Other duties include:
• Track and report contract expenditures
• Review and approve contractor invoices
• Review and approve all customer negotiations and issue resolutions
• Direct contracted crews during storm restoration as needed
• Participate in major project design and scheduling meetings to minimize tree line conflicts through proper design
• Participate in public meetings to educate and inform customers about AE line clearance program and standards

This position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
Work Schedule:
- This position is categorized as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin. Essential staff are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled. Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations for the City of Austin.
- Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
- Employee may be required to work additional hours outside of regular work schedule.
Pay Range
$32.89 - $41.93
Hours
Monday through Friday; 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Utility Vegetation Management (VM)
- Related customer service experience including problem solving and resolutions for a diverse set of stakeholders such as City Council, environmental groups, neighborhood groups and other utility customers
- Experience planning, monitoring, and approving work performed and completed by contracted VM Distribution and Transmission crews
- Experience working with VM Distribution or Transmission program staff members or consulting arborists within VM Distribution and Transmission Programs
- Bachelor of Science, Forestry Degree from a Society of American Foresters ( SAF ) accredited college or university

- Knowledge of construction types, techniques and equipment common to electric utilities.
- Knowledge of electric utility line clearance equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of local tree species and special considerations and constraints associated with their management.
- Knowledge of all processes within the Utility Forestry Section.
- Knowledge and skill in integrated vegetation management.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Skill in using computers and available software packages to manage work activities.
- Skill in negotiating among the diverse perspectives of internal and external customers.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy in all public contacts.
- Ability to plan work and allocate resources effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to work in stressful situations and adverse weather conditions
