Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) K-12 Educations group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a K-12 STEM Education and Outreach Specialist.
Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our facility with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
  • The K-12 STEM Education and Outreach Specialist is responsible for the implementation of INL's innovative K-12 education programs, creating close links between INL's capabilities and the Idaho educational community and promoting INL's mission in the community and region.
  • This position will work closely with the K-12 Education Program Manager, STEM Education Coordinator, STEM program liaisons, and program administrators to complete a comprehensive strategy in K-12 STEM education program development and outreach in Idaho.
  • Coordinates and delivers INL's K-12 education programming including teacher professional development, curriculum design and delivery, employee engagement, and student and family education outreach.
  • Plans and coordinates K-12 STEM events.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the STEM Scholars, STEM Ambassadors, and H.S. work-based learning.
  • Interacts with external partners such as informal educators and non-government organizations.
  • Collects and reports metrics on program and initiative progress and outcomes.
  • The K-12 STEM Education and Outreach specialist reports to the K-12 STEM Education Program Manager.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
PR0100:Bachelor's degree or higher in education, communication, or public administration.
PR0200:Bachelor's degree or higher in education, communication, or public administration and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in STEM education development and programming.
  • Has demonstrated experience in/knowledge of formal and informal educational environments, issues, and challenges.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, strong writing and research skills.
  • Has a proven record of engagement with youth-based communities / K-12 educators
  • Comprehensive organizational skills including project management
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm working with dedicated individuals in a dynamic programmatic environment, highly proactive and responsive.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with community and regional policy makers, decision makers, and collaborators.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality education programming, events, and communications products.
  • Proven ability to effectively oversee planning and delivery of STEM outreach, curriculum design, employee volunteer education outreach
  • Proven ability to supervise projects and tasks to meet program objectives.
  • Highly motivated individual willing to contribute to a broader vision of an INL committed to creativity and social change.
  • Knowledge of the cultural, educational, and political context of Idaho is desirable.

  • Level 1-Salary Grade 170 ($55,656 - $89,112)-
  • Level 2-Salary Grade 180 ($62,640 - $100,224)
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
