Title: Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

Position Type: Direct Hire

Location: Bow, NH

Reports to: Vice President of Operations

Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for interfacing with Power Plant Management and employees regarding regulatory issues and guidance on environmental health and safety program compliance. The EHS Engineer provides guidance, oversight and technical support to station and staff personnel for environmental compliance requirements, new projects and other compliance activities related to federal and state agencies. The EHS Engineer will develop and maintain programs to achieve and ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations for electric generating facilities including permitting, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Regulation review and tracking, engineering, as well as technical and economic analyses in support of regulatory requirements, legislative analyses, engineering support and special projects.
  • Act as external regulatory agency liaison.
  • Participate in or act as lead in regulatory enforcement proceedings and negotiations.
  • Prepare calculations and analysis to support compliance demonstrations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs.
  • Participate on local and regional emergency response committees.
  • Participate in or lead internal and external compliance audits.
  • Support the accurate and timely reporting of regulatory and compliance filings.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, interfacing with regulators.
  • Utilize analytical skills for analyzing budget and forecasts activities.

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to effectively communicate to executives, management team, co-workers, and outside vendors by telephone, e-mail, or in person.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in decision making while performing job duties and responsibilities required.
  • Ability to work independently and be able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day consistently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to abstract information from a multitude of sources.
  • Proficiency in creating and writing reports and white papers.

Physical Experience:
  • Sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Keyboarding, finger dexterity, and hand/eye coordination are required.
  • Periodic exposure to noise, odor, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and other elements

Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, environmental science, or engineering technology required. Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role is required.
