Minimum Qualifications
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:
Environmental Compliance Specialist
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Life Science, Natural Science, or related field, plus six (6) years of relevant experience.
- Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
- One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
Licenses or Certifications:
- May require a valid State of Texas Class C Driver License and the ability to meet driver eligibility standards detailed in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program.
Environmental Compliance Specialist Senior

Notes to Applicants
The employee will perform environmental actions necessary to mitigate spills that pose an environmental threat and assist in managing environmental programs such as waste, spills, and SPCC runoff ponds.
This position will require the employee to be eligible to drive City vehicles and cover On-Call duties. On-Call duties require on-site arrival at events within one hour of time notified 24/7. The expected on call rotation will be one week every 6th calendar week, however this can change based on workgroup needs.

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a valid State of Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
VETERAN INTERVIEW PREFERENCE :
Military/Veterans must provide a copy of their DD214 verifying honorable discharge, at the time of initial interview to receive military/veteran interview preference.
WORK HOURS :
Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
Additional hours may be required to work outside of regular schedule.
Note: This position is classified as Essential Employee. Employee may be called into the office after hours to respond to City of Austin emergencies.

This position will require the person to be able to cover On-Call duties in which you will be required to respond to an event and be on-site within one hour from the time notified 24/7.
