Job Summary:

PIC Group is seeking a proven Engineering Manager with utility substation and or Transmission & Distribution demonstrated experience and leadership. The Engineering Manager reports to the VP of Professional Services and is responsible for establishing and maintaining processes for project tracking, quality control, financial controls, personnel development, and client engagement. The Engineering Manager will play a vital role in developing dynamic teams through superior leadership, training, performance reviews, and recruiting while providing technical oversight and direction for the management of complex engineering projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management along with engineering/technical leadership to a skilled, qualified, and motivated engineering and design team.
  • Displaying effective communication, development, motivation, accountability, and assisting individuals using innovative techniques.
  • Ensuring that individuals have the training, tools, personal equipment, work environment, and technical support to optimize their performance and achieve desired results.
  • Coaching, training, and mentoring an engineering and design team and/or engineering and design supervisors.
  • Providing honest and constructive feedback, assistance in setting priorities, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Perform project management and cost controls activities on client projects along with the ability to be responsible charge for engineering.
  • Ensure that cost and utilization goals are met by effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Provide technical leadership to ensure that all specific engineering designs are provided per applicable professional codes and standards.
  • Providing technical direction to project teams on complex multi-disciplined projects.
  • Creating or maintaining systems for tracking projects, client satisfaction, staff development, and quality control.
  • Developing and maintaining engineering standards, work practices, and systems.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the engineering and technical industry codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of the current and future enablers, systems, and applications available in the industry to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop client relations through partnerships.
  • Carry out administrative duties in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist in recruiting efforts, business development and strategic planning.

Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting at workstation for extended periods of time viewing monitors.
  • Working on keyboard and using computer mouse.
  • When visiting client sites must follow site safety rules and work in all weather conditions.

Education / Experience:
  • Experience in the power utility industry is required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Registration as Professional Engineer.
  • Significant experience at a professional level in electrical power or communications systems engineering work related to planning, designing, and operating T&D or communications systems.
