Project Description:
  • Reliability Engineering (RE) is an integral power plant support function. The engineering team provides technical and project support for mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, plant process controls, and condition based reliability of equipment/systems within the design basis. You will work with the RE team as an entry level engineering analyst performing tasks that support the tools, programs, and databases used to fulfill RE's function. This may include plant systems monitoring/assessment, design basis studies, causal analyses, plant outage support activities, and data analytics. With the mentoring and experience of the engineering team, the successful intern will gain valuable, practical knowledge of power generation, project management processes, apply engineering fundamentals, and improve effective communication skills with internal/external resources in a collaborative work environment.
  • Example of a project description: Work with the RE staff to lead a study and validate the thermal design basis for power generation facilities within a range of unit operating/climate conditions and parameters. Results of the study will be shared within RE and Performance Optimization teams through formal presentation or other technical forums.
  • Hiring two interns for Comanche Station (Pueblo, CO) & Hayden Station (Hayden, CO)

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree or other related fields from an ABET accredited school (mechanical or electrical preferred)
  • Must be a Junior or higher
  • Must be able to work full time during the summer and part time during the school year
