Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral research associate, with an interest in the electronic properties of topological materials. Experience in the electronic structure of topological insulators and semimetals is desired. Will study the electronic structure of various topological materials using the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy method (including low temperatures), and analyze the results obtained. Support formal scientific papers preparation.
The successful candidate would be working with a team of dynamic researchers across different domains of expertise in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate is expected to have independent problem-solving, mentoring, and leadership skills that would enable them to take their own research path and take ownership of projects.
The position requires effective research skills, the ability to collaborate and partner with other government agencies, academia, and private sector companies to achieve project objectives; the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers on challenging work scope, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, co-workers, and with customers; publish results of research and development in a mix of refereed publications and conference proceedings; work effectively with other research teams to develop and manage cross-cutting technical programs for a variety of customers; write and/or contribute to competitive proposals to the U.S. Department of Energy and to internal Laboratory research and development funding opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. requirements (Condensed matter physics, solid state physics) must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
• Laboratory experience/coursework in: Electronic structure Measurements (ARPES in particular), spectroscopic measurements using synchrotron radiation, correlated topological materials, Spectroscopy.
• Systems modeled: Electronic Structure (Non-trivial electronic structure, in particular).
