Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Facilities and Site Services Electricians group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Electrician.
Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Central Facilities with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform journeyman electrical system maintenance and installing electrical systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as directed by policy and procedure.
  • Work to drawings, schematics, and work specifications to produce successful outcomes.
  • Be attentive and responsive to all employees.
  • Instruct others, when called upon, in all phases of work.
  • Read and understand technical and industrial signs, manuals, and labels.
  • Maintain information on time sheets and other records.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Participate in work planning walk downs and work-hour estimating.
  • Perform on-the-job training (OJT) for other craftspeople, as required.
  • Participate in maintenance assessments and perform material procurement duties, as required.
  • Perform work to proper work control and clearly document and record work that performed.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility-specific electrical equipment and systems including HVAC, motors and generators, battery banks and chargers, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, voltage regulators, electronic governors, cranes and hoists, variable frequency drive control, lighting systems, and various power systems and controls. Install and replace motors.
  • Operate electrical conduit forming, wiring fabrication, installation, portable power, and shop equipment and tools. Install, remove, and perform corrective maintenance on electrical raceways. Install, connect, terminate, inspect, maintain, repair, and remove conductors.
  • Calibrate, test, and perform corrective maintenance on electrical protective devices and relay equipment. Troubleshoot area system GFCI's. Rack low ( 600V) voltage breakers in and out of service.
  • Requisition and obtain spare parts. Use drawings, blueprints, schematics, and vendor data to install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Read and interpret drawings and sketches proficiently. Review scope with customers to help define job requirements, offer recommendations for improving product outcome. Provide status on jobs in progress to project managers and management. Resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices by keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Maintain all training and qualifications (Individual Training Plan and Job Function Requirements).


Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diplomas or equivalent.
  • Journeyman Electrician License and a minimum of 3 years industrial/commercial experience.
  • Ability to satisfactorily completing facility-specific, continuous and professional development training, as required, for duration of employment.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information
  • Pay: $42.05/hr (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
