The Electrical Commissioning Lead will report to the Commissioning Manager and work closely with plant personnel, Construction Engineers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and Quality Control Specialists to support commissioning activities. The Electrical Commissioning Lead will perform site walkdowns and assessments of existing power plants with a written report of findings and recommendations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Walkdown of power plants to perform electrical assessments of the equipment.
- Assist the team with report writing with findings and recommendations.
- Provide construction plan input and evaluation.
- Monitor construction methods and sequence for compatibility with construction plan requirements.
- Attend contractor weekly performance review and coordination meetings.
- Work with project team to resolve contractor coordination conflicts in accordance with the project schedule and respective contract terms.
- Monitor engineering support to ensure it is responsive to contractor needs.
- Monitor construction work quality, costs, and schedule report variances to eliminate negative impacts.
- Monitor contractor safety performance.
- Provide ongoing communication of project issues, information, safety, and quality to contractors.
- Development field audit criteria for contractor quality audits and surveillance plan for assigned contracts.
- Support start-up testing and Commissioning work requirements in accordance with the project schedule.
- Coordinate commissioning craft labor support with the Contractor and Commissioning Manager.
- Participate in the Contractor progress payment validation process when required.
Job Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of construction completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning requirements for electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to support electrical system and equipment training of client operations staff.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems operating and maintenance principles.
- Expert knowledge of high voltage installation requirements for industrial electrical equipment, including but not limited to: Transformers, switchgear/motor control centers, DC power systems, uninterruptible power supplies, large variable speed drives, electric motors, standby diesel generators, electric heat tracing, metering systems, safeguarding systems, DCS/PLC controls, motors, and generators.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical testing and procedures for primary and secondary equipment such as protective relays, circuit breakers, disconnectors, current and voltage transformers
- Strong working knowledge in loop checking, cable pulling, landing, and termination.
- Capable of reading, interpreting & preparing applicable technical information, including drawings, schematics, P&IDs, procedures, manuals, local electrical codes, and engineering specifications.
- Knowledge of operational requirements for permissive conditions and interlocks.
- Ability to read and understand corporate programs, policies, procedures.
- Proficient at reading plant drawings, technical materials, and instructions specific to the electrical commissioning and startup activities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentations of technical information in a small group of customer representatives and project team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions.
- Ability to lead, motivate and work in a team environment.
- Solid organizational skills, project planning, and administrative skills.
- Solid computer skills with various applications.
- Demonstrate competencies in OSHA Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in power plants and heavy industrial locations with varied temperatures.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must have experience properly using protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, safety harnesses, etc.) for extended periods.
Education / Experience:
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent years of electrical trades experience in industrial, power, or process electrical equipment and systems.
- 7+ years of Construction Management and Electrical Commissioning experience in the power generation industry or other industrial-related industries.
- A minimum of an active OSHA 10 Certification is required; an OSHA 30 Certification is beneficial.
