Position Summary
Work with the Distribution Area Engineering staff to support Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnection data requests, support creation and maintenance of distribution system models for evaluation of load interconnections, and support the Distribution System Planning staff in the creation of load forecasts. Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks that support the tools, programs, and databases used to perform various operational tasks such as outage investigations, powerflow studies, and protective device settings and communications. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.
(Starting pay is based on Freshman college level and will increase each additional year of college)

Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited school pursuing electrical (preferred) or mechanical engineering degree
  • Living in a commutable distance from either Amarillo or Lubbock TX
  • Must be able to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Abilityto communicate effectively; both written and verbally

Preferred Requirements
  • Critical thinking skills
  • EE/Power Engineering Coursework preferred
  • VBA or other programming coursework a plus
