Project Description:
SPS Managed Accounts works with the top 200 customers in the Texas and New Mexico Region of Xcel Energy. These top 200 customer represent over 70% of the load within the SPS footprint, with 50% of the customer base as oil and gas industry. The team is comprised of nine diverse individuals with over 250 years of industry experience in all aspects of power generation, transmission, and distribution. This department is involved in customer engagement with day-to-day operations of the system, billing, and reliability. Additionally, assisting customers in bring new loads on the SPS network while maintaining strict adherences to state regulations. We also work closely with sales & development of new products and services providing innovated technologies our customers are seeking.
This internship would work with SPS Account Managers and Key Account managers in the Texas and New Mexico region. Some of the tasks and assignments would include but are not limited to:
  • Helping to develop a process to track customer engagements and timelines
  • Assisting in marketing new products and services offered by Xcel Energy (System Resilience, EV, Customer Demand Side Management, and Infowise)
  • Provide suggested language in professional/executive level reporting, internal documentation, legal contracts, and state regulatory language.
  • Through practical experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills
  • This will be a summer opportunity with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer and 15-20 hrs./wk. during a school semester.
(Starting pay is based on Freshman college level and will increase each additional year of college)

Minimum Requirements:
  • Pursuing a degree in Business and other related fields. Also Writing/Communcations.
  • Must be able to work part time during the school year and full time during summer
  • Highly effective writing/grammar skills
  • Great communication skill

  • Experience in oil and gas
