Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) System Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Cognizant System Engineer.
Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our ATR facility with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensure continued operational readiness of assigned systems and safety systems.
  • Interact with technical networks inside the Laboratory.
  • Perform complex assignments given general results expectation and guidelines.
  • Select and develop technical approach to assignments. Decisions or recommendations may impact programmatic objectives.
  • Influence project and program strategies and directions. Lead engineering review work within organization and be available for peer review by others.
  • Select and widely apply principles, theories, and concepts in major field of specialization. Oversee technical aspects of system changes as the system owner. Determine or approve engineering approach for solving problems and meeting client needs. Prepare reports, engineering documentation, and presentations.
  • Mentor and support peers and junior staff in technical growth, and be available to work on key project teams.
  • Contribute to expanding engineering capabilities within the division. May receive recognition as a co-author or co-presenter.
  • Identify need for and ensure performance of necessary repairs, as well as directing preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance to meet performance objectives.
  • Identify need for and carry out performance monitoring based on equipment requirements, maintenance records, operational history, and system availability requirement.
  • Develop, ensure adequacy of, and maintain configuration management and the technical baseline of multiple systems.
  • Ensure all design modifications meet the system's technical baseline requirements.
  • Attain and maintain qualifications as a Nuclear Operations Plant Engineer, System Engineer and Cognizant System Engineer for assigned systems. Maintain safety, Conduct of Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations training current.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field and 2 years of position-related experience, or an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 1 year of experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
  • 2 years nuclear facility experience desired.
Job Information
  • Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212) / 220 ($107,520 - $177,336)
