Job Brief

Provide financial analyses in support of SRP's financial decision-making processes. Provide support of SRP's annual budget and financial planning processes as well as monthly reporting. Provide support of major and ad hoc projects within the Financial Services area, including Pricing, Financial Planning, Energy Risk Management and Treasury initiatives. Supports Treasurer, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Manager of Financial Analysis with key financial data and statistics that will be shared with SRP Capital Governance Committee, Treasurer, Chief Financial Executive, and GM Staff key financial data and statistics to develop and administer financial goals and objectives. Provide qualitative and quantitative economic and financial analyses for corporate-wide use.

Job Responsibilities
 

  • Serves as the lead analyst for SRP's six-year Financial Plan and the associated long-term scenarios
  • Serves as lead analyst for SRP's financial modeling software, which includes training others in the department on use of the model.
  • Supports the Manager of Financial Analysis with projects as needed.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis in support of helping SRP achieve its long-term financial objections.
  • Supports the development of financial analyses, models, and systems based on operational, economic, market and internal data to develop financial scenarios, plans, and budgets, and to quantify and report SRP financial performance.
  • Provide projected key financial metrics in support of financial decision-making processes.
  • Provide analytical support as needed throughout the Financial Services organization. Activities could include cash flow analysis, liquidity calculations, long-term borrowing plans, price process and borrowing process support.
  • Assist in budget and capital prioritization process as needed
  • Provide analysis of historical financial performance, operations and market information using business software packages and statistical software tools, and develop models to predict future outcomes. Work often requires the analysis of large datasets using Copperleaf, SAP, Excel, MIDAS or SAS modeling.
  • Provide reports for management on the overall performance of segments and develop metrics to measure various characteristics of the business.
  • Provide training and consultation on the use of value frameworks and related tools for Financial Planning
  • Provides assistance to assess and implement the appropriate tools and systems for Financial Planning
  • Serves as one of key contacts for Financial Planning department for cross-departmental projects.
  • Plays an active role as financial educator in the company.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with Resource Planning, Pricing, Treasury and other internal departments

 


Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years of experience in related field.

  • Work requires programming fluency in mainframe and micro-computer applications. Examples: SAP, SAS, MIDAS, SQL, VBA.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead/perform multiple assignments concurrently under stress.
  • Ability to lead/provide accurate, timely and concrete analysis and recommendations to GM Staff and SRP Board.
  • Knowledge of marginal and embedded costing techniques.
  • Ability to get along with all levels of employees within SRP.
  • Knowledge of electric utility economics.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of SRP's corporate strategies and philosophies.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports with corresponding documentation and to make group presentations, including financial system and process user education workshops, and group training.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree inEconomics, Finance, Quantitative Systems, Business, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.
