Administrative Assistant I
Salary Grade: G11
Minimum Midpoint Maximum
$40,704 - $52,916 - $65,127
Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.
SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, provides assistance to management and administers special projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts reviews of current operations, systems or programs for efficiency and effectiveness
- Recommends changes and improvements where appropriate
- Serves as the functional unit or managerial unit Budget Coordinator
- Assists management with monitoring budget variance reports and budget changes for compliance with company policy and department budget guidelines
- Acts as a liaison between the manager or executive and his or her direct reports
- Develops project plans and coordinates or directs special projects for management
- Knowledge of project management principles, practices and techniques
- Knowledge of budgeting systems and budget variance reporting
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED with at least five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk up to 1/3 of the time and regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time and talk and listen for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to reach is required to perform computer applications and good vision is required to perform all aspects of the job.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- May require some travel.
- Office environment.

- Acts as a liaison between the manager or executive and his or her direct reports
- Directs project plans and coordinates projects for management
- Provides training and assistance to other administrators
- Extensive knowledge of project management principles, practices, and techniques
- Extensive knowledge of budgeting systems and budget variance reporting
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED with seven or more years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write complex correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
