As energy storage, especially battery storage, continues to see market gains, adoption of the technology is growing. But what are the complexities of introducing battery storage into the marketplace? Why is pricing energy storage so challenging and what effect does it have on energy storage procurement? How do energy storage ownership models impact adoption? Is benefit stacking really necessary for energy storage to be cost effective?

In storage, the tide is turning. Opening markets and improving economics are shifting attention to what it takes to implement storage projects. This includes addressing questions around best practices in procurement, business models, and owning and operating energy storage assets. As state commissions and legislatures continue to advance storage policy at the state level and FERC drives storage participation in wholesale markets, we are nearing a long-awaited inflection point for storage. Now, we need to focus on what will be required to implement these policies.

Kevin-- thanks for sharing, and I love to see the attention on the energy storage market. By all accounts, it seems like we're at an inflection point in the battery market, so any information on developments is definitely critical.

I've noticed that in the trend of people talking about how energy strorage is becoming more important (thanks to decreasing costs, increasing efficiencies, etc.) is that the trend seemst to be marching forward at a steady pace. In otherwords, improvements are coming piecemeal and regularly rather than any significant 'moonshots' or complete disruptions to the tech or markets. Would you agree with that assessment? If so, what do you think drives it?

Intersting video, Kevin. I'd be interested to learn, from you or other members, about real-life instances of how utilities are currently working storage into their energy plans.
