Regulators too must ensure they understand cloud technologies, operating environments and the advances in technologies. Technologies change rapidly and standards auditors with dated experience will be required to keep current on operations, risk, cyber security, process controls and technology.

This is something I think about a lot, as the rate of technological progress is far faster than the regulatory process in many areas. How can the energy regulatory bodies ensure they are staying sufficiently ahead of the game and not letting technology outkick the coverage of the regulations?
