Top US energy official 'all ears' as experts outline needs
Transmission developers and energy policy experts told Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm at a roundtable discussion in New Mexico that the Biden administration must make it easier for transmission lines to get approved and built if it wants to meet its clean energy and climate goals.
Fernando Martinez, executive director of the New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority, and others told Granholm about permitting bottlenecks that have slowed transmission infrastructure development in the Land of Enchantment, citing a 165-mile line that required 430 easements from landowners to build.
