NASEO Board of Directors Resolution and NASEO Comments to FERC Underscore Importance of State Energy Offices in Transmission Policy and Planning | NASEO
This is a very big deal!
Increased funding and support to State Energy Offices to further their engagement in transmission policy and planning will help on many levels. In NASEO's Resolution: "The NASEO Board of Directors encourages the deployment of grid modernization technologies that enable demand flexibility and system resilience that benefits consumers and positively impacts transmission and distribution planning;" Further: "That the NASEO Board of Directors encourages State Energy Officials to collaborate with other state and local agencies, and energy providers to consider and utilize to the maximum extent practical strategies that can augment system resilience and leverage U.S. Department of Energy identified strategies, which includes measures such as reconductoring of power lines with low-sag, low-resistance, high-performance, efficient, cost-effective, advanced conductors"

The passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) in 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in 2022 provided increased funding and support to State Energy Offices to further their engagement in transmission policy and planning.
