California utility to pay $55 million for massive wildfires
PG&E CEO Patti Poppe said the utility welcomed the chance to be more transparent — and ultimately more accountable — for its operations.
“We are committed to doing our part, and we look forward to a long partnership with these communities to make it right and make it safe,” Poppe said.
Part of that “long partnership” is to spend $15-30B to underground ten (10) percent of PG&E’s T&D system. It’s a noble goal and shows real industry leadership. As Patti Poppe says…”we cannot afford not to (underground)”.

PG&E does not admit wrongdoing in the two settlements reached with prosecutors for last year’s Dixie Fire — one of the largest wildfires in California’s history — and the 2019 Kincade Fire in Sonoma County.
