Ameren Completes Its Largest Transmission Line Project | RiverBender.com

ST. LOUIS - Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE), has completed and energized the final span of the Illinois Rivers Project, a 375-mile, 345,000-volt transmission line from Palmyra, Missouri, to Sugar Creek, Indiana.

This development is a pretty major accomplishment in the transmission world. The $1.4B transmission line project was first approved in 2011 as part of the Multi-Value Projects, which is a interstate effort to enhance regional transmission in the Midwest U.S. to better adapt to the growing reliance on renewable resources.

From the article: "The $1.4 billion Illinois Rivers Project provides local and regional benefits, including improved energy grid reliability, increased transmission capacity, access to lower-cost energy and electricity from renewable sources for Midwestern families and businesses."
