The article linked below from the World Economic Forum should be required reading for every business executive and board member. Today's Cybersecurity Status Quo Inertia (CSQI) approach to cybersecurity has failed to stop ransomware, data theft and other cyber-attacks that are disruptive to business. The article talks about the need to manage cyber-risk for business growth. I actually think it's even more important to manage cyber-risk to maintain stability in today's business climate. Business growth is important but instability can impact all the gains made from the past and result in losses (revenues and profits), so a more accurate and compelling title might be "Why effective cybersecurity and risk management are crucial for business growth AND STABILITY"
I don't know of a single business executive that wants to experience turbulence in their operations and obstacles to success that a cyber-attack represents. A paradigm shift in cybersecurity is needed, CSQI = 1984 failure.
Hoping to see everyone at the DOE Energy Transition Summit: Grid Modernization Initiative and Clean Energy Cybersecurity on February 5-8 where regulatory and standards policy topics will be discussed, including grid cybersecurity. Hope to see you there.
