I highly recommend reading this article with thoughts on 9/11 by Jen Easterly Director, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency
Her thoughts on leadership are profound and inspiring. Far too many times people in powerful positions allow their ego's and quest for power to drive destructive behavior, creating toxic work environments. Director Easterly's definition of leadership is indeed profound: "For those of us who are leaders – and I subscribe to Professor Brené Brown’s expansive definition of a leader as “anyone who takes responsibility for recognizing the potential in people and ideas, and has the courage to develop that potential”

When you observe someone in a powerful position that is deliberately squashing ideas or disparaging others - take notice and ask yourselves what is driving their behavior and is it the type of leadership that Director Easterly subscribes to. This is a good litmus test, look for those leaders that actively and respectfully pursue collaborative and cooperative work environments to achieve a goal. These are the leaders we need now. Fortunately, CISA's ICT_SCRM taskforce is blessed with such leaders Rob Arnold
