Our cultural profile always tends towards postponement. If you can kick the can down the road for more time why allocate efforts now?
When I was following up on a project activity I led in the energy area, for a large industrial customer, I received a response from an engineering manager that I have never forgotten. "I'll do it as soon as possible, maybe even before that.!!!!!
In other words: we love vague and imprecise "commitments", as it gives room to justify practically everything that is "necessary".
It is precisely here that I see a great opportunity for personal and professional development. Change the attitude. Be more accurate. Objectively and always establish activities and associated deadlines.
The big advantage, in addition to being perceived as someone reliable and objective, is that you end up allocating less time to fulfill your tasks. Because being organized and committed has this underlying aspect!
