The American Apparel and Footwear Association has published a brief video on the research efforts to eliminate PFAS chemicals. This is of relevance to the energy industry because it will affect the water that it used - it will be cleaner if the technologies are involved, but water use may cost more - and it could also affect hydrogen use. One of the technologies discussed uses hydrogen to break down the PFAS chemicals, so this is a competing demand for hydrogen, and could, at least temporarily, raise the cost of hydrogen, regardless of the technology used to produce it. This would be good for the producers, but would be a problem for the hydrogen consumers.
