Looks can be deceiving?

Looks can be deceiving?

Since my childhood, Brazil has been "the country of the future".

* Its capital is an emblematic example of an innovative city
* The country's natural beauty is incredible
* Brazilian women are among the most beautiful in the world
* The delicious, wonderful food
* The special climate does not have the extremes of so many other countries
* Public buildings are sumptuous reflecting our greatness
* Public officials have an enviable compensation package

Why have we - for centuries - been so poorly in the world ranking of per capita income?

The electricity sector can give us a signal of the answer.

Although we have a renewable energy matrix (70% from water, wind and sun) the final cost of energy delivered to the consumer is the most expensive among the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), which use predominantly thermal sources (with the associated cost of fuel) for the bulk of their power generation.
