Fuel prices in Brazil
The discussion established between wings of the Federal Government on whether or not to charge fuels shows the fragility of the forms of analysis and decision in our country.
Supposedly, what is at stake is maintaining the tax exemption in favor of the vast majority of the population or encumbering it in order to respect the "intact" Union budget.
It would be much more enriching if there were an evaluation of the two possibilities, informing society of the advantages, disadvantages and risks associated with each one.
Maintaining the exemption is equivalent to withdrawing funds from another area from the budget or simply bursting the budget with all the harmful and well-known consequences.
Encumbering, in the current scenario, means keeping the budget balanced but, of course, making it difficult for the less favored population.
The right and necessary thing would be to reduce budget expenses - those crazy ones that traditionally allocated to the elites working in the public sector, which are below shameful.
But unfortunately the "status quo" of the rulers is always "immovable". They should give examples. They should....
