Rising inflation and other repercussions stemming from the pandemic continue to dog energy companies. In response, many are making across the board budget cuts to reduce expenses. However, taking a knife to their digital investments is counterproductive, according to Gartner Inc. In the past, technology was strictly a back office investment, one that had minimal business impact. Nowadays, IT is a front office and even revenue-generating activity, so cutting funding can damage business performance.
