Utilidata President and COO Jess Melanson sees the electric utility industry deploying high-quality computers across their grids, creating a huge opportunity for his software firm to help them run their grid more "cleanly" just as that is becoming a key mandate for the industry. He understands the regulatory perspective, having worked in the utility regulatory office of New Jersey, and the utility perspective, having worked for a decade at New Jersey IOU PSEG.

Utilidata started as a volt-VAR optimization provider and Melanson joined in 2018, leaving another smart grid firm, Tendril. He joined us on Smart Grid Today's recent podcast episode to share details about what can be accomplished to boost the value of AMI and smart grid deployments, and more.
