ERCOT's Peak Electricity Demand Tops 70,000 Megawatts
Proving that Texas is suffering through one heck of summer, the state's grid manager, ERCOT, says it has topped out the largest number for energy demand ever yesterday: 70,169 megawatts between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The previous record was 69,877 set in August of last year.

Managers of the Texas' biggest electrical grid said that peak electricity demand topped 70,000 megawatts for the first time on Monday, shattering a record set in August of last year.
