Can you provide some examples of OT domains where Data Diodes are deployed -(SCADA?EMS/ADMS.. etc.)?

Asked by: - Executive Consultant, ESTA

This question was posed during a recent Energy Central PowerSession: Data Diodes 101: Protecting the Grid with Hardware

The PowerSession was so lively and packed with great information that the panelists were not able to address all the questions live, so we thought we would bring the question into the community. By posting the question in the community, anyone can follow the Q&A and or even participate.

I have only used diodes to protect plant control systems and get as much outbound data types as needed.

I have not seen implementation in SCADA systems for EMS or DMS except where a specific device like a Digital Disturbance Recorder is sending data back to a control center. The diode work fine for this application since it is only data acquisition but fully protects the DDR.
