Spearmint Energy completes Revolution, one of the largest BESS projects in the U.S.

Huge 150-MW/300-MWh energy storage project is up and running in West Texas!

Spearmint Energy announced yesterday (January 4) the successful completion of 'Revolution', the company’s 150-megawatt (MW), 300-megawatt hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (“BESS”) project in West Texas. The project is among the largest BESS projects in the United States. Back in July 2022, Spearmint acquired the project from Con Edison Development, a wholly owned subsidiary of Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses. Revolution will provide energy storage to the 'West Texas’ ERCOT market. Revolution is located near the 278.2-MW King Mountain Wind Farm in Upton County, Texas. The wind farm was developed back in 2001 by Cielo Wind Power and Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES). King Mountain is currently owned by NextEra Energy Resources.
