Nevada recognizes the value of the (transmission) grid with $2B of 525kV EHV to connect population centers. The value is:
1) it provides outstanding reliability (99.97%) and resiliency
2) it connects us to lowest cost and renewable generation
3) it connects you and me to buy and sell (at the distribution level)
But, this Nevada bill has something for everyone:
-100% carbon free by 2050 goal
-Storage incentives via tax abatement
-$100MM for EV charging stations
-Possible RTO by 2030
-Net metering for commercial and high density residential
The big question? What does all of this do to the retail price of electricity? Please feel free to comment with YOUR answer.
