Massive xAI Colossus supercomputer is now connected to new substation in Tennessee!

The new substation can deliver 150 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The facility also has 150-MW of Tesla Megapack batteries for backup in case of power outages and reliability issues during peak electricity demand periods. Another substation is planned for this coming fall that will enable Colossus to get 300-MW. It took only 122 days to build the facility located along Riverport Road in southwest Memphis, Tennessee, and just 92 more days to double the supercomputer’s capability –now at 200,000 GPUs. Elon Musk’s xAI is planning to scale the facility to 1,000,000 GPU’s – making it by far the world’s largest supercomputer.
