I published a report at the beginning of 2019 describing the challenges of factoring the impact of BTM PV on load forecasting. At that time, there was considerable uncertainty with regard to the real impact of Behind the meter (BTM) PV supply resources were having on long term load forecast accuracy. What a difference a year makes! ISO New England's Load Forecasting team has made enormous strides in understanding this somewhat mysterious and complicated BTM PV force. The link provided below describes the new and improved methods ISO-NE is incorporating into its load forecasting methodologies. The entire industry can benefit from the insights ISO-NE provides in this presentation, which convinces me that a nationwide standard for calculating the impact of BTM PV is an imperative that should not be ignored. Consistency in this process would ensure a common understanding of semantics and the results of BTM PV impact, nationwide. Thanks and well done ISO New England for taking on this very important and difficult challenge, and for sharing your profound insights.
