 Local residents in Palm Beach County welcomed a historic moment this week as the last 2 wooden transmission poles were removed.  Florida has seen its fair share of tropical storms, hurricanes and power outages.  One Florida Power & Light customer recalls 18 days without power after a storm.  The utility hopes the days of downed lines from strong winds will be reduced if not eliminated by replacing wooden poles with concrete poles and underground transmission lines.  Will hardening the lines help utilities combat the onslaught of extreme weather events?
