Energy storage (Brazil)

Energy storage

In Brazil, a list of initiatives involving energy storage associated with batteries has been reported.

As a rule, projects are developed based on regulatory authorizations in which investments are amortized at the expense of tariffs. In other words, all consumers pay for the "benefit".

The question that remains is: is this criterion fair?

The alternative would be to require investors in non-firm generation projects - such as solar and wind - to bear the costs of storage since firm sources do not need them. In other words, cost meritocracy!

As long as the criterion remains as it is, Brazil will not be competitive. I am referring to the BRICS, in which Brazil is one of the last in terms of $/kWh.
