Winter Forecast: Steep Rise in Natural Gas Pricing
Winter is typically a bellwether for energy industry pricing. This year, the natural gas heating bill is expected to average $746, a $172, or a 30% increase from last year, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Why? Retail natural gas prices are expected to escalate from $10.17 per thousand cubic feet (Mcf) last winter to $12.93/Mcf this winter, the highest price since the 2005–06 winter. Will those changes impact your company?
