The global pandemic had a dramatic impact on US energy consumption in 2020, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Consumption fell by7%, the highest on record since the agency began tracking this sector in 1949. Residential usage registered the smallest decline (1%), industrial consumption dropped by 5%, commercial need fell 7%, and transportation energy was impacted the most with a 15% decrease.
