Regulator says Eversource misclassified Tropical Storm Isaias and was unprepared for huge number of outages
A Connecticut state utility regulator said that Eversource misclassified Tropical Storm Isaias as it bore down on the Northeast, estimating it would cause half as many outages as it ultimately did, leaving the utility unready to respond the scope of the storm.
More than 720,000 customers were left without power after Tropical Storm Isaias and some utility companies in the Northeast told state officials it could be between 5 and 10 days before power is fully restored given the severity of damage to wires.
