Britain needs more power from its energy partners, so the interconnectors are reaching record levels of usage. What this article refrains from saying is that the lack of gas storage and low level of resilience in the UK grid system is another factor in the high demand for imported electricity this winter.

The company’s five subsea cables, which connect GB with France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Norway, have transported almost 12 percent more power than the same period last year, at an average of 91GWh per day.
