Everybody speaks about energy availability. But what about information availablity? With most smart home solutions requiring an internet connection, what are your preparations to keep internet connections up?

It's an interesting connection. You can also tie starlink backup communications to the power sector during times of emergency, such as hurricanes wiping out both the grid and the cell towers. Hopefully the process and efficacy can be more robust in the future

Starlink and Satellite phones are great. If the people you communicate with are also on the new systems you are very well off. If not when their land based system fails you can't reach them. Get everyone on Satellite which are solar powered and you are invincible .

Last July in Canada, a massive outage from Rogers affected millions of subscribers that were left out without mobile and/or broadband services for 15 hours. This affected vital transport, banking and emergency services along with other businesses. The impact of information (and lack of information) is massive on the economy so definitely having a redundant internet back up using satellite services is nowadays a valid option for critical operations.
