It's looking good for energy storage companies. Despite the ups-and-downs of the global economy, energy storage, energy efficiency and smart grids received high levels of investment in Q1 2022.

This is indeed looking good for energy storage, and the investments will continue to rise. In California, PG&E put out a list of 9 major battery storage projects throughout the state, including an expansion of the world's largest battery facility in Moss Landing. However, kinks will need ironing out -- the same Moss Landing plant has been dormant for months because of problems with the facility's technology. Lithium-ion batteries (not to blame in the Moss Landing situation) remain the best tech but they bring their own concerns with overheating.
