Washington Building Code Council hears an earful in Yakima about switch from gas to electric
Can Yakima, Washington afford to make radical changes now? With climate change and rising gas prices, can they afford not to? “Our future is electric,” said one supporter of requiring new homes to be all-electric. The Washington State Building Code stated the transition would be 2-4 times more energy efficient than either fossil fuels or electric resistance heating. Will this new policy help the state to increase energy efficiency 70 percent by 2031 or just stall growth due to supply chain issues?
