Subsidized power prices which were consistently around R$ 210/MWh jumped to R$ 285/MWh (1 USD = R$ 3,2). This is for delivery in 2019.
It is too early to say whether they "came to stay" or whether it is an "episodic." phenomena.
The increase in the demand for power (with the steady recovery of the country's GDP) and the ongoing stress in the supply of hydroelectric plants due to the delicacy of the reservoirs can be a plausible explanation.
This movement has not yet been captured in the prices published by companies specialized in collecting information from the main market agents.
