It is in human nature to make a miscalculation that costs time and money, but perhaps never on the scale as what is being exhibited now. For decades energy professional, engineers, and knowledgeable builders have known about the energy pyramid. Reduce Before You Produce for many has been a lifelong commitment or planning priority.  Unfortunately this life lesson has evolved into an overlooked element that is costing billions of dollars to many levels of government, in most companies, and in most countries.

The expensive miscalculation is due to two primary reasons. The first reason has a positive aspect. Businesses and governments want to be good global citizens by using much more renewable energy. The second reason is utility companies focus on energy production. Businesses, governments, utility companies, and individuals could eliminate the ongoing multibillion calculations steadily to the benefit of their selves and our planet by getting back to the basics and reducing energy demand.

Consider this, as a business owner you want to use only renewable energy and will be setting up a solar array or wind power generation system. So with the help of a professional you determine how much solar or wind power it will take to meet your needs. Next you get an energy audit to see how you are using energy. With a good analysis you will find that by taking normal energy demand reduction steps you can significantly reduce your energy use. Here is where using efficiency basics will really pay off. Glazing energy loss is most often the largest portion of infrastructure utility costs. Dollars spent to insulate the existing glazing is over three times less expensive per watt of energy saved when compared to the cost of generating those watts with renewable energy! If we become as energy efficient as possible first then “Right size” our renewable energy we can save billions of dollars globally. There are many great energy efficiency measures that can produce impressive savings on a demand reduction versus watt production cost basis.

Utility companies are consistently adding new energy production plants to serve their growing customer base and to replace inefficient production units. Whether these are traditional or renewable energy plants, they are more costly per watt generated than the cost of the eliminating energy demand through numerous energy efficiency measures.

Our company, Energy Efficiency Done Right has formed an Energy Savings Calculation Task Force (ESCTF) from energy professional throughout our global network of distributors and dealers.  This task force has developed a spreadsheet to help businesses, governments, utilities, institutions, and individuals to estimate the energy savings and payback available by installing our In’Flector Radiant Barrier Window Insulators on their buildings and homes. With this data, everyone can make good decisions about the best way to reach their sustainability goals and when they could best initiate their renewable energy plans. Energy efficient product providers should provide methodologies to provide energy savings and payback information for planning purposes. Our goal is to use case studies to prove our product line meets or exceed cost savings and payback estimations on different structure types in different climates. We will then also be able to provide accurate carbon emission reduction estimations.

Eliminating waste is very important in evolving to a renewable energy planet. It is also very important with utility company’s energy production plans. Our global good intentions without using the lessons we have learned is increasing the costs and slowing our progress. Let’s maximize energy demand reduction globally and right size our power production to everyone’s benefit.
