Thanks for sharing. I'd be interested to hear these experts share about the news coming out of Europe, both France taking 100% control of EDF and the decision by EU to classify nuclear (along with gas) as green for taxonomy purposes.

It's a tremendous step forward to both cases. France decoupled from fossil fuels over 40 years ago, so EDF under gov't control means a returning to build a stronger focus on long term objectives -i.e. stable reliable energy from fission.

Now that the EU can provide subsidies for Fission projects such projects will easily beat any other energy project hand over fist.

remember renewables were subsidizes in the past over 250 times  more than nuclear. They needed that even remotely approach an economic break even.

We wrote about this only recently here :

This is the beginning of the end for wind and solar experiment to be major energy suppliers. There will be some brief transition where public funded projects will proceed (eg the massive offshore wind of Denmark). But given the unraveling of the debacle of the German "green" experiment, we'll see folks learning quickly the value  of their hard earned tax funds.

A fascinating discussion.  I would certainly support new nuclear over restarting dirty coal plants every time.  The quoted figures of an EROEI of 2000:1 for Thorium Molten Salt liquid fuel reactors, is truly astonishing.

If you accept the Chinese claims in https://www.indiatimes.com/technology/science-and-future/china-waterless..., the thorium reactors that are waterless won't be in wide-scale operation until 2030. More, and still relevant, detail on thorium is at https://www-pub.iaea.org/mtcd/publications/pdf/te_1450_web.pdf.
